Ocala treasure returned to its original glory. For many Ocala natives, Silver Springs State Park is home to many memories including weekend concerts, glass bottom boat rides, and summers spent swimming in the springs. But recently, the park has sat nearly empty for the last 10 Years. In 2014, BG Capital was granted the park as a part of a three- year deal with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The company plans to develop the area into an ecotourism destination including glamping, bike and hiking tours, horseback riding, a tree-top ropes course and reopening the spring to swimmer. Many facilities like the Mansion, fudge shop and banquet room will receive a facelift and expand their services. They have also received a beverage license allowing them to serve beer and wine and partnered with locals to serve locally sourced food options.
However, as of now you can enjoy guided tours, kayaking and canoeing down the spring river, and of course ride the famous glass bottom boats. Plus, you can enjoy dining at the Spring Side Café and follow up with delicious goodies from Paradise Treats.
