“I had no idea what I wanted to do at 18 or what to do with my life; who does at that age?” she says. “International studies had a language requirement and a chance to study abroad. It gave me the background to work in diverse industries and places.”
Her coursework took her to Spain, Peru, and China (with an exploratory trip to Italy), where she studied Economic Development, Urbanization, and Finance Allocation as well as intensive Spanish language and culture immersion. She counts these experiences as some of the most valuable and beneficial to her career.
“You just never know what someone is thinking or going through, and I work with a lot of people on a daily basis. It’s important to be able to relate and work with them in a way that makes them comfortable. It creates an open dialogue so you can reach a resolution more easily,” she explains. “I love my alma mater for giving me the opportunities to study abroad; those years were phenomenal. I think they made me more empathetic and observant.”
She recently earned her real estate license, and after considering a few agencies, decided to join Showcase. Her mother, Tina Halsteter, is a longtime agent with the firm whose advice was invaluable.
“She raved about Showcase and the quality of the team.” Alysha says. “My mother has an incredible work ethic, and to me that says more than anyone else I might talk to or interview with.”
She plans to concentrate on residential and horse properties, and eventually is interested in exploring Commercial real estate; her experience in Aviation and flight training gives her an intimate knowledge of that demographic, which she hopes to put to use.
