Eric has lived in Central Florida most of his life; his family moved to Ocala just after he was born. His father is a 30-year veteran of the Ocala PD, and his mom has worked at OMCAR for the past twenty years. “I’m a Floridian through and through,” Eric says proudly.
After graduating North Marion High School, he earned a degree in Business Administration at the University of Phoenix and pursued a career in retail for the next twenty years, rising to store manager of several national chains, including Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods. His retail work took him all over Central Florida, from Ocala to Lakeland, Gainesville and Lady Lake, and he became intimately familiar with the various communities and building solid contacts with local businesses.
He was always interested in real estate; his father used to remodel homes as a hobby, and Eric would often pitch in to help. When he bought his first home, he thoroughly enjoyed the process of working with the agent. “She was really fantastic. She had a connection with the community, and it showed. That whole experience and everything that came with it was just something I fell in love with.”
It was during a 4-month hike of the Appalachian Trail that he decided he wanted to change direction in his career. “I knew I wanted to pivot out of retail when I finished the hike, but I didn’t know what that was going to be yet. But I knew I’d figure it out.”
He became a Florida realtor in 2023, and wanting to work with a solid, independent firm, met with Showcase to discuss his future.
“It was a no-brainer for me. I could tell they’re really invested in their team and the things the agents are working on,” he says. “And I grew up in Ocala; it’s where I want to build my career and my business. There’s something about it that’s special, all my friends and family are here. I know this community.”
